Back Light, Life on the Line

Catch Rainbow Factory's Senior Monday Night Dancers performing at 'Unanimous' at MAC Theatre Belfast on Sunday 24th April with their original piece;

'Back light, Life on the Line’.

The piece explores the impact of social media on our mental health, relationships and self-esteem. ‘Back light’ refers not only to the screens of mobile phones or laptops, but also the silhouette/ shadows of ourselves that we create with our online persona’s, which are not honest reflections of our true selves and what this can do to us. ‘Life on the line’ refers to how each time we go online we lose not only time but a bit of ourselves in the process.

THE BIGGER THE STORM THE BRIGHTER THE RAINBOW!
Rainbow Factory brings colour and life into the lives of young people with ingenious interactive website!

 You can access via: www.therainbowfactory.co.uk
and CLICK the link to Virtual Rainbow Factory. For more information simply email: VRF@youthaction.org and to receive your special password.

Thanks to Phoenix Natural Gas and our funders who have helped make this possible.

During the current crisis the team at Rainbow are acutely aware of the need to stay connected with young people, support them in their isolation and their anxieties. With this in mind the Arts Team has been working extremely hard to design and develop a Virtual Rainbow Factory, so that hundreds of young people can continue their beloved performing arts training and ignite old and new friendships.

“ For me this is a life line. I’ve missed my Rainbow family more than anything!” RF Member.

Safeguarding is of the utmost importance, therefore much of the site is password protected and we also will be making sure our most vulnerable young people continue to be supported at this unprecedented time. This has been an extremely challenging task, in such a short period, moving a live Rainbow Factory with daily classes and events on to a social media platform. The team at Rainbow has been driven to excel, by the difference it will make to young people’s lives at this very challenging time.
The site and activities are FREE, to make sure there are no barriers
to young people taking part, as life is tough enough at the moment.

“Young people are at the heart of everything we do. Although attending classes, events, rehearsals, meeting up in person and performing to live audiences cannot be rivalled, we are so heartened by the overwhelming response from young people and their families about our new bespoke Virtual Rainbow Factory! Staying positive and having fun through the magical medium of the arts, is more important now than ever.
Sometimes it’s good to remember that… no matter the storm
just look for the Rainbow and it will always be there for you.”

Maire Campbell, Artistic Director,
YouthAction NI’s Rainbow Factory School of Performing Arts.

Domino

Tell me more, tell me more!

DOMINO is a gripping performance and post show Lifemaps workshop that has been inspired by discussions and workshops on mental health issues faced by young people. The concept behind DOMINO is that, in life, sometimes we go through the ‘domino effect’ where one problem can affect another and another and so on.

DOMINO is one of our most successful projects and is featured on the front cover of the Arts Council mental health and wellbeing annual report and is hailed as extremely high standard of dramatic performance that really ‘speaks’ to young people by young people.
